Duo Juola & Kang
Jussi Juola, Baritone (Finland)
The Finnish baritone Jussi Juola (b. 1987) has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden both under Christiane Junghanns, as well as in the Lied class of KS Olaf Bär since 2015. Beforehand he completed his music pedagogy and vocal studies at the Oulu – University of Applied Sciences under Markku Liukkonen. He supplemented his studies by participating in masterclasses with Elly Ameling, Hartmut Höll, Konrad Richter, Jorma Hynninen, Ilkka Paananen, Graham Johnson and Rudolf Piernay. Jussi Juola is a winner of the Finnish Otto Vallenius Competition and was awarded the 2nd prize as well as a special mention prize at the National Vocal Competition in Lappeenranta, Finland. Furthermore, he was awarded a special mention prize at the Ensemble Competition of the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber and is a recipient of the Dutch Vocallis Lied-Prize. At the International Robert Schumann Competition for Piano and Voice in 2016, Juola reached the finale.
Eun Hye Kang, Piano (Republic of Korea)
Eun Hye Kang was born in 1984 in Seoul. She studied piano under Professor Pia Kaiser and Lied interpretation in the classes of Ulrike Siedel and KS Olaf Bär at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, where she completed a masterclass. Eun Hye Kang has been awarded numerous prizes, including the 2nd prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Euterpe in 2013. Together with Jussi Juola, she was the winner of the special mention prize at the Ensemble Competition of the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber, as well as a recipient of the Vocallis Lied Prize at the Dutch festival of the same name. Kang has attended masterclasses with Oliver Kern, Gilead Mishory, Peter Schreier, Marcelo Amaral, Hartmut Höll, Korad Richter, Graham Johnson and Elly Ameling. Since 2016, she is a vocal coach at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden and is a member of the piano faculty at the Saxon Switzerland Music School.
