He was born in 1965 in Moscow (Russia). He received his baccalaureate (piano) and master (composition) at the Manhattan School of Music, New York. Andrey Komanetsky, with his 12 Preludes for Piano Trio, premiered by the Chicago Ensemble, won the Discover America Competition for New American Chamber Works in 2001. His other compositions have been performed in Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Five collections of his solo piano pieces were published by Willis Music Company (Kentucky, USA) (distributor Hal Leonard International Corporation). His most recent work, "Musicali-Key", is about to be released. Komanetsky's educational compositions were praised by the "Music Teachers National Association" (USA) as "substantial challenges that promote musical and technical development" and "reminiscent of some of the most lasting educational works of Bartók and Kabalevsky".

Komanetsky was Artistic Director and "pianist-in-residence" of the Telesis Contemporary Ensemble (New York City). He often appears as a concert pianist in the United States. In addition, Komanetsky is musical director, organist and choirmaster of the Catholic Church in the Bronx (New York).
