TWINS QUARTET

The Twins Quartet (Russia) was founded in 1998 at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow under Prof. Galkovsky. Under his guidance, it is trained in a postgraduate program. The quartet participated in the X., XI. and XII. Summer academy "Prague-Vienna-Budapest", where master classes and i.a. with G. Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), N. Brainin, S. Nissel (Amadeus Quartet), S. Devich, L. Mezo (Bartók Quartet) and M. Skampa (Smetana Quartet). In 2001, the Twins Quartet won the 2nd Prize of the International Shostakovich String Quartet Competition in Moscow. In 2002, the quartet was a finalist of the Osaka Competition. 2000 Performance of the Quartet at the "Days of Russian Culture" at the EXPO 2000 and 1st Prize of the International Competition "The Heritage of Classics". Currently, the quartet is a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and studies with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne. 2001 concert tour in Japan with Alexej Lubimov. Regular appearances of the Twins Quartet at international festivals.

Elena ALEKSEEVA, Viola

Born in 1972 in Moscow. 1989-1993 Music High School in Puchkino, 1994-1999 studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Yuri A. Bachmet (viola), with T. A. Alihanov (chamber music) and with A. V. Galkovsky (string quartet). 1999 graduation of violin studies (soloist and quartet) at the Moscow Conservatory. Currently undergoing postgraduate studies as a member of the Twins Quartet.

Elena ISSAENKOVA, violin

Elena was born in the town of Oshmyany, Republic of Belarus in 1973. At the age of seven she studied at the music school in Slavsk, Kaliningrad District. She won the 1st prize at the Violin Contests in Arkhangelsk and Kaliningrad and the 3rd prize of All-Russian Contest in Tver. Furthermore she got a grant from the Fund „Young Talents of Russia“. Since 1999 she has studied at Moscow State Conservatory with Prof. Kravchenko (violin), Prof. Bonduryansky (chamber music) and Prof. Galkovsky (string quartet). She has played in several concerts of the German Bach Academy, gave solo concerts in Kaliningrad and Tomsk, and played as a soloist of the early music orchestra „Teleman Consort“. In October 2001 as a member of the Quartet she participated in a tour of Japan with Alexej Lubimov. She regularly performs with the Twins Quartet at many International Festivals.

Tatjana ISSAENKOVA, violin

Irina SMIRNOVA, Violoncello

Born in 1975 in Vladimir. 1989 graduated with distinction at the Music School in Vladimir. 1989-1993 Music High School Vladimir, graduated with honors. Multiple award winner at regional music competitions, participating in various international competitions. Supported by the international program "New Names" in 1992, 1993 and 1994. 1993-1998 studied at the Moscow Conservatory. Chamber music concerts and solo performances in renowned concert halls in Moscow, u. a. Moscow Philharmonic.
