Whenever an “entirely exceptional pianist, whose authenticity and brilliance causes your ears to take notice…” (Robert Levin), “…a distinguished cellist, with full sound and warm vibrato…” (Riccardo Chailly), and a violinst with a “contagious stage presence” (Neue Musikzeitung) and an “unending joy of playing” (Südkurier) form themselves into a piano trio, nothing can go wrong. Trio Marvin was formed in Leipzig in 2016, and only a few months later, in January 2017, the trio was awarded the 1st prize, the Felix Mendelssohn Prize, at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschule Competition in Berlin, an event which gave their shared musical journey a positive foundation. In September 2017, the trio was awarded the 2nd prize, the audience award, and the youth award at the Premio Trio di Trieste Competition. All three members of the trio have independently been awarded prizes at international competitions and are all active as concert performers both home and abroad. Collaborations with musicians such as Jacques Ammon (Celloproject) and Gerald Fauth (Trio ex aequo) during participation at masterclasses and festivals were of great relevance to the trio and allowed them to gain important momentum. The diverse background of the trio and the stimulus of their shared study in Germany provide the trio with a completely unique vantage point to the classical and romantic canon, and especially to composers such as Shostakovich, who occupies a great importance for the musicians.
