JERUSALEM QUARTETT (Israel)
The Jerusalem Quartet was founded in October 1993 as part of the “Young Musicians Group”. First appearance in 1995 at the Jerusalem Music Center. Concerts with Tabea Zimmermann followed as well as a festive concert at the residence of the Israeli ambassador in Amman, world premiere of Michael Wolpe’s “Allegro” for string quartet. Israeli premiere of “12 Microludes” by György Kurtág in the presence of the composer. Concert tour through France as guests of the Forum Musical de Normandie. In 1996 concert tour throughout Europe (Oslo, Stockholm, Vienna, The Hague, Copenhagen, Bratislava) and South Africa. Master classes with Isaac Stern, Henry Meyer, Tabea Zimmermann, György Kurtág, Michael Tree and Peter Kamnitzer. First prize-winner at the “Jerusalem Academy Chamber Music Competition”. Violinist Avi Abramovich is teacher of the quartet.
Born in Ukraine in 1977, immigrated to Israel in 1991, student of M. Liberman. Several prizes, among others, 1st prize in the “Jerusalem Rubin Academy Violin Comeptition”, the “Ilona Kornhauser award”, 1st prize in the “Braun-Rodger Siegl Competition for Violinists”. Participated in the Tuacan Festival in Utah, USA. Soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony.
Born in Ukraine in 1978, immigrated to Israel in 1991, student of M. Liberman. In 1990 soloist with the Kharkov Symphony (Ukraine) and in 1994 with the Jerusalem Symphony. 2nd prize in the “Clairmont Competition for Young Violinists”. Participated in the Tuacan Festival in Utah, USA.
Born in Israel in 1979, student of David Chen, studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance High School as well as at the academy itself. Participated in the Jeunesses Musicales International seminar in 1995. 1st prize in the “Braun-Rodger Siegl Competition for Violists” 1996.
Born in Minsk in 1978, immigrated to Israel in 1991. Studied with Uzi Wiesel and Hillel Zori. 2nd prize in the “Clairmont Competition for Young Cellists”. Participated in the Classical Winter Festival in Jerusalem and the Tuacan Festival in Utah, USA. 1st prize in the “Braun-Rodger Siegl Competition for Cellists” 1996.
