In its present formation ConTempo has performed since 1995. 1995 2nd prize at the International Competition “Valentino Bucchi”, Rome, 1996 1st prize at the “Mozart” String Quartet Competition, Cluj, 1998 Spezial Prize at the “Karl-Klingler” String Quartet Competition in Berlin, 1st prize at the competition of the Konzerthausgesellschaft München and Spezial Prize at Prague Spring, 1999 The Romanian Music Critic Union Prize. 2000 3rd prize and “Audience Prize” at the 8th International String Quartet Competition in London. Concert tours in Austria, Spain, Korea, Italy, Canada and Germany.
Marius Bogdan SOFEI, Violin
Born in Romania in 1975. Violin studies starting at the age of five. Numerous prizes and awards at national and international competitions, among others special prize of the jury at the National Contest “The Gold Lyra”, Suceava, 1st prize at the Contest of the Music highschool “Gheorge Enescu”, 1st prize of the International Competition “Città di Stressa”, Italy, 1st prize at the National Contest “Mihail Jora” Bukarest 1993, 1994 1st prize at the chamber music competition at the Music Academy Constanta.
Ingrid NICOLA, Violin
Born in Romania in 1975. 1994 graduation from the Music highschool “Gheorge Enescu”. Since 1994 studies at the Music Academy Bucarest, classes with Daniel Podlovschi, Ladislau Csendes and Fred Popovici. 1986-1998 several prizes and a scholarship for chamber music (string quartet) in Banff, Alberta (Canada), among others prizewinner of several competitions in Romania. Masterclasses, a. o. with Gilbert Kalish, Antonio Lysy, David Takeno, Douglas McNabney, Laurence Lesser and the Trio D’Iscles. CD production at the Banff Center (Canada).
Andreea BANCIU, Viola
Born in Romania in 1975. Studies at the Music Academy Bucarest, 1997/98 studies abroad at the Banff Center for the Arts, Alberta (Canada). Participation at several masterclasses, a. o. the Amadeus Summer Courses, with David Takeno, Valeriu Pitulac, Dan Mitu and Thomas Kakuska. Several national and international prizes. Concerts in Europe, China and Canada. Recordings for Radio, TV and CD. Performances as soloist with the Lyceum String Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Music Academy Bucarest. Member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Nations (Germany).
Adrian MANTU, Violoncello
Born in Romania in 1973. Diploma at the Music Academy Bucarest. 1997/98 studies abroad at the Banff Center for the Arts, Alberta (Canada). Winner of several international prizes, among others at the competition “Orpheu” in Sofia 1994, Jeunesses Musicales Bucarest 1995. As soloist more than 50 concerts with orchestras from Romania and with international youth orchestras in Germany, Bulgaria and Austria. Performances of chamber music in Romania, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Yugoslavia, Germany and Canada. Participation in several masterclasses, e. g. with Radu Aldulescu, Stefan Popov, Wolfgang Laufer, Gerhard Hamann, Laurence Lesser, Antonio Lysy, Martin Lovett, David Strange, David Takeno, with the Alban Berg Quartet and the Amadeus Quartet.
