International Composition Competition for "Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello" 2011
In our International Composition Competition "Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello" 2011 at Kunstuniversität Graz we had 125 entries from 43 nations.
After the jury meeting on June 28, 2011 we would like to inform you about the results.
The jury - Annette Bik, Chia Chou, Georg Friedrich Haas, Isabel Mundry, Dieter Schnebel, Johannes Maria Staud, Georg Friedrich Haas under the chair of Rector Georg Schulz decided to announce two prizewinning pieces:
"I Waited For You in Rain" composed by Hooshyar Khayam (Iran)
"Nel tempo della memoria?" composed by Simone Movio (Italy)
All submitted pieces to this International Composition Competition 2011 will be taken up to the library of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
The award-winning composition will be incorporated in the repertoire of the 3rd round within the category “Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello” as a compulsory piece of music during the 8th International Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” (February 8-16, 2012). So in the case of two prize-winning pieces one of these two compositions - as a free choice of the participating ensemble - will be performed by the piano trios in the 3rd round in MUMUTH (Haus für Musik und Musiktheater) in Graz on February 14, 2012.
At least one of the ward winning compositions will be performed by a selected ensemble at Stefaniensaal on the occasion of the concert of the prize winners organized in the framework of the subscription cycle of the Kunstuniversität Graz. This piece will be recorded on the CD series “Klangdebüts” released by the Kunstuniversität Graz.
The prize-money will be shared - that means each prize-winner will receive 2.500,- and it will be awarded to both of them in the context of the winners presentation of the International Competition “Franz Schubert and Modern Music” on February 16, 2012, Stefaniensaal.
